Authors:Kilinç, Ali; Pinarbaşi, Haci; Şengül, Metin Y.; Yarman, Sıddık Binboğa
Publisher and Date:(IEEE, 2002)In this paper a practical broadband microwave amplifier design algorithm is introduced utilizing the immittance data-modelling tool. In the course of design first the optimum input and output terminations for the active device are produced employing the real frequency technique. Then these terminations are modelled utilizing the new immittance-modelling tool to synthesize the front-end and back-end matching networks. An example is included to exhibit the implementation of the proposed design ...

Alternative Transducer Power Gain Expression in Broadband Matching Network Designs
In this paper a reflection coefficient based transducer power gain expression has been derived which is an alternative to the impedance based expression exists in the literature. A broadband double matching problem is solved by using the derived gain expression and the obtained performance has been compared with the performance obtained via the existing expression.

An Alternative Approach To Design Lumped Element Delay Equalizers
In this paper an algorithm has been proposed to design lumped element delay equalizers which is considered as a single block as opposed to the existing methods in literature. Then after obtaining the desired delay performance the designed delay equalizer is divided and realized as cascaded first-order and/or second-order all-pass circuits. An example is given to illustrate the utilization of the proposed algorithm.

Analysis of Mixed-Element Structures Formed With Shunt Capacitors Separated by Transmission Lines
Authors:Şengül, Metin Y.; Çakmak, Gökhan
Publisher and Date:(IEEE-Inst Electrical Electronics Engineers Inc, 2019)In this brief, the analysis of mixed-element structures formed with shunt capacitors separated by commensurate transmission lines is performed first time in the literature. First, a low-pass lumped-element ladder network is considered. Then the series inductors are replaced with commensurate transmission lines. As a result, a practically important mixed-element structure is obtained. Then the description of the structure by means of two frequency variables (one for shunt capacitors and one for ...

Analytic solution of the Feldtkeller equation
In every reflectance-based application like broadband matching circuit modeling etc. a nonlinear equation following from energy conservation the Feldtkeller equation must be solved in order to obtain real networks. In the literature however there is no analytic solution available but only numerical solutions. Consequently the resulting error depends on the accuracy of the numerical tools. In this paper an analytic solution is proposed which is based on the modified ABCD-parameters of a lossless ...

Bound free electron-positron pair production accompanied by giant dipole resonances
At the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) for example virtual photons produce many particles. At small impact parameters where the colliding nuclei make peripheral collisions photon fluxes are very large and these are responsible for the multiple photonuclear interactions. Free pair productions bound free pair productions and nuclear Coulomb excitations are important examples of such interactions and these processes play important roles in the beam luminosity ...

Bound-free electron-positron pair production in relativistic heavy-ion collisions
Authors:Şengül, Metin Y.; Güçlü, Mehmet C.; Fritzsche, S.
Publisher and Date:(Amer Physical Soc., 2009)The bound-free electron-positron pair production is considered for relativistic heavy ion collisions. In particular cross sections are calculated for the pair production with the simultaneous capture of the electron into the 1s ground state of one of the ions and for energies that are relevant for the relativistic heavy ion collider and the large hadron colliders. In the framework of perturbation theory we applied Monte Carlo integration techniques to compute the lowest-order Feynman diagrams ...

Broadband Decoupling and Matching of a Superdirective Two-Port Antenna Array
Authors:Volmer, Christian; Şengül, Metin Y.; Weber, Joern; Stephan, Ralf; Hein, Matthias A.
Publisher and Date:(IEEE-INST Electrical Electronics Engineers Inc, 2008)Decoupling and matching networks may be used to improve the performance of compact antenna arrays where mutual radiator coupling has caused a degradation of the diversity capabilities. A popular network consists of a 180 degrees rat-race directional coupler which decouples the antenna ports followed by impedance matching networks at each port. Researchers however usually neglect the presence of losses both within the antenna array and the decoupling and matching network. For this reason we have ...

Broadband Equalizer Design with Commensurate Transmission Lines via Reflectance Modeling
Authors:Şengül, Metin Y.; Yarman, Sıddık Binboğa
Publisher and Date:(IEICE-INST ELECTRONICS INFORMATION COMMUNICATIONS ENG, 2008)In this paper an alternative approach is presented to design equalizers (or matching networks) with commensurate (or equal length) transmission lines. The new method automatically yields the matching network topology with characteristic impedances of the commensurate lines. In the implementation process of the new technique first the driving point impedance data of the matching network is generated by tracing a pre-selected transducer power gain shape without optimization. Then it is modelled its ...

Broadband impedance matching via lossless unsymmetrical lattice networks
In this paper a broadband impedance matching network (equalizer) design algorithm has been proposed. In the equalizer a lossless unsymmetrical lattice network has been utilized. The branch impedances of the lattice network are considered as singly terminated lossless LC networks since it is not desired to dissipate power in the equalizer. After giving the algorithm its usage has been illustrated via an example. (C) 2011 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.

Broadband matching via reflection function optimization
In this paper a practical approach is presented for designing broadband matching networks via reflection function optimization. In the proposed algorithm the input or output reflection function of the matching network is expressed in terms of three real polynomials describing the matching network load and generator reflection coefficients. Next one of the polynomials is optimized to get minimum reflection function values in the passband. Then matching network topology and element values are obtained ...

Broadband Matching via Unequal Length Cascaded Transmission Lines
In this paper a new approach based on the real frequency technique (RFT) has been proposed to solve broadband matching problems using cascaded unequal length transmission lines. At the end of the design process optimum characteristic impedance and delay values of transmission lines are obtained. Two examples are given to illustrate the utilization of the proposed approach.

Broadband Microwave Amplifier Design with Lumped Elements
This study introduces a broadband microwave amplifier design that utilizes the measured scattering parameters of active devices without assuming an initial topology for the matching networks or an analytic form of the system transfer function. The algorithm can be extended to design multistage broadband microwave amplifiers. An example is given to illustrate the application of the proposed method. It was found that the proposed method provides very good initials for CAD tools to further improve ...

Authors:Şengül, Metin Y.
Publisher and Date:(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2016)While designing broadband single matching networks for microwave communication systems via commercially available software tools it is necessary for these tools to select the proper matching network topology and element values. But how to make these selections is an unknown problem. But the proposed approach in this paper presents a practical method to generate single matching networks with good initial element values. After completing the design the performance of the designed single matching ...

Cascaded Lossless Commensurate Line Synthesis
In this paper a synthesis algorithm for cascaded lossless commensurate lines is summarized. The algorithm is based on transfer matrix factorization. Firstly the characteristic impedance of the extracted element is calculated and then after extracting the element the reflection factor of the remaining network is calculated. This process is repeated until the termination resistance is reached. An example is included to illustrate the implementation of the algorithm.
