A left pulmonary artery aneurysm secondary to pulmonary hypertension
Authors:Sönmez, Bingür; Tansal, Selim; Ünal, Mehmet; Korkut, Ali Kubilay; Yaǧan, Naci Erciyes; Demirsoy, Ergun; Arbatlı, Harun; Aytekin, Vedat
Publisher and Date:(2001)We report a case of pulmonary trunk aneurysm extending into the left pulmonary artery due to pulmonary hypertension secondary to mitral valve disease. The mitral valve was replaced with a bileaflet mechanical prosthesis. A Dacron graft interposed between main trunk and left pulmonary artery branch and right pulmonary branch attached to the graft in an end-to-side fashion. Early postoperative angiogram revealed a very successful treatment.

Association of lipoprotein(a) concentration and apo(a) isoform size with restenosis after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty
Authors:Sırıkcı, Onder; Aytekin, Vedat; Demiroglu, I. C. C.; Demiroǧlu, Cemşid; Marcovina, S.M.
Publisher and Date:(Springer Verlag, 2000)Lp(a) is a unique class of lipoprotein particles that exhibits a considerable size heterogeneity resulting from the size polymorphism of apo(a) its unique protein component. An elevated level of Lp(a) in plasma has been proposed to be a risk factor for premature development of coronary artery disease. To evaluate the relationship between Lp(a) concentration and apo(a) isoform size with restenosis after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty Lp(a) levels and apo(a) phenotypes were determined ...

C-reactive protein as a pre-procedural predictor of early and late outcomes of percutaneous coronary interventions
Authors:Aytekin, Saide; Çatakoğlu, Alp Burak; Aytekin, Vedat; Demiroǧlu, Cemşid; Kocazeybek, Bekir Sami
Publisher and Date:(Springer New York, 2003)To examine the predictive value of pre-procedural CRP level in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) regardless of having unstable or stable angina pectoris or myocardial infarction. Blood sampling for CRP measurement in patients undergoing PCI: 116 consecutive patients who underwent single vessel PCI were evaluated. Exclusion criteria were multilesion PCI, total occlusion, left ventricular ejection fraction < 30%, left bundle branch block and intercurrent inflammatory ...

[The effects of phase II cardiac rehabilitation programme on patients undergone coronary bypass surgery]
Authors:Çiftçi, Çavlan; Süsleyici Duman, Belgin; Çağatay, Penbe; Demiroğlu, Cemşid; Aytekin, Vedat
Publisher and Date:(2005)Objective: To investigate the effects of phase II cardiac rehabilitation in 52 patients undergone coronary artery bypass surgery. Methods: Gradual walking tests, cardio-pulmonary capacity tests and lipid profile were administered to patients selected for phase II cardiac rehabilitation before and after the programme. Training was started on 12-channel electrocardiogram controlled running bands 3 times a week for 20 min periods for 12 weeks fitting the programme. Low or intermediate level exercise ...

Koroner baypas geçiren olgularda faz II kardiyak rehabilitasyon programının etkileri
Authors:Çiftçi, Çavlan; Süsleyici Duman, Belgin; Çağatay, Pembe; Demiroğlu, Cemşid; Aytekin, Vedat
Publisher and Date:(Türk Kardiyoloji Derneği / Kare Yayıncılık, 2005)Amaç: Koroner arter cerrahisi geçiren 52 hastaya uygulanan Faz II kardiyak rehabilitasyonun etkilerini araştırılmaktadır. Yöntemler: Faz II kardiyak rehabilitasyona al›nan hastalara bu program öncesinde ve sonunda; dereceli yürüme testleri, kalp-akciğer kapasite testleri, lipid profili yapıldı. Programa uygun olarak 12 hafta boyunca haftada 3 kez 20 dakika süreli seanslar şeklinde, 12 kanal elektrokardiyografi kontrolünde koşu bandında egzersiz antrenmanları yapıldı. Hastalara düşük veya orta ...

Off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting with use of the octopus 2 stabilization system
Authors:Akpınar, Belhhan; Güden, Mustafa; Sağbaş, Ertan; Sanisoğlu, İlhan; Aytekin, Vedat; Bayındır, Osman
Publisher and Date:(2000)Background: The treatment of coronary artery disease has evolved rapidly over the last two decades. The gold standard of surgical revascularization, the on-pump coronary artery bypass graft, has been challenged by the development of percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty. Our experience with the alternative of the off-pump ("beating heart") coronary artery bypass (OPCAB) technique during a period of 18 months suggests that OPCAB avoids the complications of cardiopulmonary bypass and offers ...

The prevalence of microalbuminuria and relevant cardiovascular risk factors in Turkish hypertensive patients
Objectives: A growing body of data illustrates the importance of microalbuminuria (MAU) as a strong predictor of cardiovascular risk in the hypertensive population. The present study was designed to define the prevalence of MAU and associated cardiovascular risk factors among Turkish hypertensive outpatients. Study design: Representing the Turkish arm of the multinational i-SEARCH study involving 1,750 sites in 26 countries around the world, a total of 1,926 hypertensive patients from different ...

Use of octopus 2 stabilization system for off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting
Authors:Güden, Metin; Akpınar, Belhhan; Sağbaş, Ertan; Sanisoğlu, İlhan; Aytekin, Vedat; Bayındır, Osman
Publisher and Date:(Medimond Srl, 2000)The early results of 126 off pump CABG procedures performed through a median sternotomy incision (OPCAB) during a period of 18 months were evaluated. The mean age was 69+/-4.3 years. There were 80 male and 46 female patients. Emergency cases and reoperations were not included. A total of 268 anatomosis were performed with a mean number of 2.12 anastomosis Per patient. Conduits used were: LITA (100%) RITA (11.1%) GSV in (84%) and radial artery in (31%) of cases. In 72% of the cases off pump surgery ...
