(3+3+2) warped-like product manifolds with Spin(7) holonomy
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Elsevier Science Bv, 2011)We consider a generalization of eight-dimensional multiply warped product manifolds as a special warped product by allowing the fiber metric to be non-block diagonal. We define this special warped product as a (3 + 3 + 2) warped-like manifold of the form M = F x B. where the base B is a two-dimensional Riemannian manifold and the fibre F is of the form F = F-1 x F-2 where the F-i(i = 1 2) are Riemannian 3-manifolds. We prove that the connection on M is completely determined by the requirement that ...

A combined fuzzy AHP-goal programming approach to assembly-line selection
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(IOS Press, 2007)In mass production assembly-line balancing (ALB) problem has been a critical and repetitive issue for companies for long time. On the other hand equipment selection for stations has also been another important problem at the design stage of an assembly-line system. In this paper both problems are handled simultaneously. Therefore first goal programming (GP) method a well-suited technique is used to develop a preemptive formulation to joint both of the problems when the nature of the problem consists ...

A Country Under Siege: Reflection of Identity Crisis on the Formation of Public Opinion in Turkey
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Int Business Information Management Assoc-IBIMA, 2016)To date academic attention in social sciences remains inadequate with regard to research and analysis of public opinion in Turkey. Most of the existing research has assessed the public opinion during political election periods. Therefore it is of great interest to find out what the public thinks about current issues in the country and how to interpret the results to be able to reveal whether they may have any reflections on social political and cultural structure of the country. The current study ...

A country-specific analysis on internet interconnection ecosystems
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(IEEE, 2018)With the proliferating number of diverse participants and destinations to reach the Internet construct has become more intricate to assay. Today Internet Service Providers (ISPs) establish resilient networks from multiple providers and broaden the number of peering links-as financially as viable. However the complex structure of the global Internet ecosystem and entwined roles of Internet players simply prevent us from conducting generalized models for grasping interconnections which could be ...

A critical analysis of current legal developments on the political participation of minorities in Turkey
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(2010)This is a follow-up article to the one published in the IJMGR half a decade ago (Vol. 12 2005). Although there have been domestic and international legal cases that are directly concerned with the political participation of minorities in Turkey few improvements have been made in law covering the subject. This encouraged this author to analyse and criticise the judgements of the European Court of Human Rights and the legal and political actors at domestic level. The aim of this article is to reflect ...

A framework for combined recognition of actions and objects
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Springer-Verlag Berlin, 2012)This paper proposes a novel approach to recognize actions and objects within the context of each other. Assuming that the different actions involve different objects in image sequences and there is one-to-one relation between object and action type we present a Bayesian network based framework which combines motion patterns and object usage information to recognize actions/objects. More specifically our approach recognizes high-level actions and the related objects without any body-part segmentation ...

A fuzzy AHP-PROMETHEE II approach for evaluation of solar power plant location alternatives in Turkey
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(IOS Press, 2017)Solar energy produced through a solar power plant is a freely available non-polluting renewable source of energy that reduces the greenhouse effect. Selecting the best location for a solar power plant among several location alternatives is a complicated multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) problem since several potentially conflicting quantitative and qualitative criteria needs to be taken into consideration. In this paper of the most commonly used MCDM methods in literature

A Fuzzy AHP-TOPSIS-Based Group Decision-Making Approach to IT Personnel Selection
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Springer, 2018)Global competition and the rapid development of information technologies force organizations to continuously change their ways. Nowadays organizations need personnel who make a difference through innovative ideas and who keep up with the rapid changes. In this paper the personnel selection process in a Turkish dairy company's information technology (IT) department is discussed as a group multi-criteria decision-making problem. The main purpose of the paper is to select the best employee candidate ...

A historical assessment of Turkey's natural gas import vulnerability
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Pergamon-Elsevier Science Ltd, 2018)This article aims at evaluating the historical determinants and implications of Turkey's natural gas import dependency. We implement principle component analysis (PCA) methodology to construct a natural gas import vulnerability index (NGIVI) for the period between 1986 and 2014 using five factors: (1) the share of natural gas in primary energy consumption (2) the share of natural gas in primary energy imports (3) the non-diversification of natural gas import sources (4) the share of LNG in total ...

A left pulmonary artery aneurysm secondary to pulmonary hypertension
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(2001)We report a case of pulmonary trunk aneurysm extending into the left pulmonary artery due to pulmonary hypertension secondary to mitral valve disease. The mitral valve was replaced with a bileaflet mechanical prosthesis. A Dacron graft interposed between main trunk and left pulmonary artery branch and right pulmonary branch attached to the graft in an end-to-side fashion. Early postoperative angiogram revealed a very successful treatment.

A new approach for coexistence of IEEE 802.11af and IEEE 802.22 systems
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2018)In this paper various algorithms are proposed to help IEEE 802.11af and IEEE 802.22 wireless systems to coexist in TV white space by considering multiple techniques. By using busy tone power control and multihop communication techniques improvements have been made compared to prior approaches. With this approach while IEEE 802.22 systems are protected from intra-network interference IEEE 802.11af systems are still able to continue transmitting packets. Considering the communication parameters and ...

A New Preconditioner Design Based on Spectral Division for Power Flow Analysis
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Praise Worthy Prize Srl, 2011)Solution of large sparse linear systems is the most lime consuming part in many power system simulations. Direct solvers based on LU factorization although robust are known to have limited satiability on parallel platforms. Thus. Krylov subspace based iterative methods (i.e. Conjugate Gradient method Generalized Minimal Residuals (GMRES) method) can be used as alternatives. To achieve competitive performance and robustness however the Krylov subspace methods need a suitable preconditioner. In this ...

A Novel Approach for Voltage Control in Electrical Power Distribution Systems
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(IEEE, 2018)This paper proposes a novel approach for voltage control in 3-phase unbalanced distribution systems. The approach is based on the change of the magnetizing reactances of the voltage regulators in the system. We used an augmented Lagrangian-based optimization model to determine the optimal settings on a modified IEEE 123 Bus Test System with large PV penetration. Simulations were performed on a minute-based resolution either by controlling regulators or by controlling the magnetizing reactances of ...

A Novel Indoor Channel Model for TVWS Communications based on Measurements
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(IEEE, 2018)In this paper we present an indoor measurement campaign for TV white space bands inside a university building. The measurement results are compared with different indoor propagation models in the literature. We observed large estimation errors for the total path loss value from all existing models. Consequently we are proposing a new indoor propagation model for TVWS frequencies which concatenates the effects of frequency dependent path loss with penetration losses due to walls and windows. ...
