The Necropolis of Perge contains more or less all cemetary types from simple ground burial to monumental tombs of the antique world. These cemetary types show until today a chronological dispersion from the Hellenistic Period to the middle of the 3rd century A.D. This Master thesis comprises 80 tomb structures exposed to daylight during the systematic excavations since 1997 in the Western Necropolis of Perge. The aim of the thesis is to document the causes of the deterioration of the tomb structures which were buried in the ground that have survived to this day and excavated between the years 1997-2007, together with the problems of the terrain and their conservation and proposals for their display. The research is of five chapters with the introduction included. The aim, the extent and the method of the thesis is clarified in the introduction. In the second chapter the history of the antique city of Perge and the excavations are relaid. In the third chapter the work in the area and the architectural characteristics of the tomb structures are defined. The third chapter continues with the results of the material analysis (qualitative or semi-quantitative qualifications of soluble salts, calcination analysis, acid loss, sieve analysis, petrographic analysis, point load and XRD analysis) of the stone, brick and mortar samples taken from the tomb structures and their similarities with each other are relaid. In the fourth chapter general conservation problems and the deterioration encountered at the tomb structures were evaluated in connection with the investigations in the area and the results in the laboratory research. Conservation proposals of the tomb structures are suggested in the fifth chapter.en_US
