The main purpose of this study is to research the effects of acting practice in another language on the actress's body and mind. Starting point of this research is the feeling of strangeness by following the conceptions of Louis Jouvet and Valere Novarina on the double nature of actress during the transformation of the actress's body. From this point forth, looking for the changes which come with the acting practice when the actress is a "real stranger" in another country by using another language, is the main idea of this thesis. Based on the linguistics researches, we looked how the changes of voice, body and imagination which come with this practice, reflect on theatre practice. We used the academic studies of Gisele Pierra on the intersection of theatre and foreign language practices through learning another language. The conception of psychoanalyst, philosopher and writer Daniel Sibony about being between two languages and cultures, helped to look from a new perspective for "being stranger on the scene". At the same time, the interviews with actors who acted in another language and my acting experience in France as an actress were other sources of this study. Abundance of mother tongue can bring some new questions about identity and self-orientation and also can transform theatre scene to a space of amplification of these subjects. Leaving from the comfort zone of mother tongue and having a journey to the universe of imagination and metaphor of a new language, can provide a new study space to the actress for discovering new images, different ways of thinking, finding different kind of ways of self-expression, self-assertion and imagination. We assume that acting in another language can be an irreplaceable tool of having a new confrontation between actress and herself, her job and her mother tongue. This practice can lead to actress to rediscover acting by providing her to think about the relation between language and body, and experience it in a different way.en_US
