A left pulmonary artery aneurysm secondary to pulmonary hypertension
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(2001)We report a case of pulmonary trunk aneurysm extending into the left pulmonary artery due to pulmonary hypertension secondary to mitral valve disease. The mitral valve was replaced with a bileaflet mechanical prosthesis. A Dacron graft interposed between main trunk and left pulmonary artery branch and right pulmonary branch attached to the graft in an end-to-side fashion. Early postoperative angiogram revealed a very successful treatment.

A new technique for abdominal heart transplantation in rats
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Edizioni Minerva Medica, 2003)Experimental studies in animals play a major role in the progress of medicine. Different surgical techniques have been described for heterotopic heart transplantation in rats. in this study we introduce a new technique for heart transplantation in thc abdominal cavity of rats. Fifteen Sprague Dawley rats have been used as recipients and 15 others as donors. Following preparation of recipient abdominal aorta and left renal vein the donor heart including proximal arcus aorta was harvested. Donor ...

Anomalous pancreaticobiliary junction (APBJ) with the drainage of the uncinate process into the minor papilla: demonstration by MRI
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(BRITISH INST RADIOLOGY, 2005)We report a case of a 30-year-old patient with anomalous pancreaticobiliary junction (APBJ) that has not been described before. The patient had a clinical history of recurrent attacks of pancreatitis cholangitis and cholecystitis that were confirmed by abnormal laboratory values. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography revealed a 20 mm long junction of choledoc and pancreatic duct and uncinate process draining into the minor papilla. On MR cholangiopancreatography strictures at the junction ...

Design, Synthesis and hMAO Inhibitory Screening of Novel 2-Pyrazoline Analogues
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Bentham Science Publ Ltd, 2017)Aim and Objective: MAO inhibitors have a significant effect on the nervous system since they act in regulation of neurotransmitter concentrations. Neurotransmitter levels are critical for a healthy nervous system. MAO inhibitors can be used in the treatment of neurological disorders such as depression, Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease, as the increase or decrease of some neurotransmitter concentrations is associated with these neurological disorders. This study was conducted to discover ...

[The effects of phase II cardiac rehabilitation programme on patients undergone coronary bypass surgery]
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(2005)Objective: To investigate the effects of phase II cardiac rehabilitation in 52 patients undergone coronary artery bypass surgery. Methods: Gradual walking tests, cardio-pulmonary capacity tests and lipid profile were administered to patients selected for phase II cardiac rehabilitation before and after the programme. Training was started on 12-channel electrocardiogram controlled running bands 3 times a week for 20 min periods for 12 weeks fitting the programme. Low or intermediate level exercise ...

Facial autologous soft-tissue contouring by adjunction of tissue cocktail injection (micrograft and minigraft mixture of dermis, fascia, and fat)
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(2000)Facial aging is both a physiologic and anatomic process characterized by changes in the skin and supporting tissues. The aging process produces an outer envelope that gradually expands while its contents gradually involute and the underlying structure weakens. This process results in an excess of skin that tends to create folds, grooves, and deepening furrows. Contour augmentation and filling depressions with autologous tissue or heterogeneous materials are widely used in face rejuvenation as an ...

Factors that influence attitude and enforcement of the smoke-free law in Turkey: a survey of hospitality venue owners and employees
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Bmj Publishing Group, 2017)Introduction In 2009 Turkey extended the smoke-free legislation to hospitality venues. Compliance however remains low in some hospitality venues. We identified characteristics associated with knowledge of health effects that can be prevented by the smoke-free law the attitude towards and enforcement of the law. Methods In 2014 we conducted 400 interviews with hospitality venue owners and employees in 7 cities in Turkey. The venues were identified based on a random sampling strategy in a previous ...

Identification of potential isoform-selective histone deacetylase inhibitors for cancer therapy: a combined approach of structure-based virtual screening ADMET prediction and molecular dynamics simulation assay
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2018)Histone deacetylases (HDACs) have gained increased attention as targets for anticancer drug design and development. HDAC inhibitors have proven to be effective for reversing the malignant phenotype in HDAC-dependent cancer cases. However lack of selectivity of the many HDAC inhibitors in clinical use and trials contributes to toxicities to healthy cells. It is believed that the continued identification of isoform-selective inhibitors will eliminate these undesirable adverse effects - a task that ...

In situ split costal cartilage graft harvesting through a small incision using a gouge
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2000)A costal cartilage graft is one of the most useful materials in reconstructive plastic surgery. In this article a technique of in situ split costal cartilage graft harvesting through a small incision (2 to 3 cm) using a gouge is described. The technique used has many advantages: it is a simple technique is easy to learn and can be performed quickly through a small incision. By avoiding complete costal cartilage graft harvesting the associated potential complications such as pleural perforation ...

Machine Learning Approaches for Predicting Protein Complex Similarity
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Mary Ann Liebert Inc Publ, 2017)Discriminating native-like structures from false positives with high accuracy is one of the biggest challenges in protein-protein docking. While there is an agreement on the existence of a relationship between various favorable intermolecular interactions (e.g. Van der Waals electrostatic and desolvation forces) and the similarity of a conformation to its native structure the precise nature of this relationship is not known. Existing protein-protein docking methods typically formulate this ...

New modification in otoplasty: Anterior approach
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2001)After harvesting the conchal cartilage in a large series of secondary rhinoplasties using the anterior approach there was a marked improvement in the shape of the auricle with unnoticeable scarring hidden under the convolution of the antihelix. In this series of 250 cases there were no hypertrophic scars or keloid formations. Based on these favorable results a new modification of otoplasty was developed using only the anterior approach. Between 1992 and 2000 108 otoplasties were performed on 55 ...

The stability constants of the rare earth complexes with trimetaphosphoric acid
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Soc Chimica Italiana, 2001)The stability constants of the complexes formed between the rare earth metal ions and the anion of trimetaphosphoric acid have been determined at a temperature of 20 degreesC and an ionic strength of mu =0.1 by the ion-exchange equilibrium method. The investigations indicate that stabilities of complexes increased from La to Lu.The highest and the lowest stability constant values (beta) were found to be 7.76 and 3.82 for Lu3+ and La3+ respectively.
