Fakat Corneliu Porumboiu'nun Police Adjective (2009), When The Evening Fall on Bucharest or Metabolism (2012) ve The Treasure (2014) filmlerinde birbirine benzer şekilde ekrana gelen insert çekimler biçim ve işlev açısından ana akım kullanımlarından farklıdır.
Insert shots can be defined as relatively short close-up shots that are inserted into longer main shots to cover up flaws and maintain continuity. Inserts generally shot by a second unit after the main shooting of the film. These shots provide necessary information about the story or underline a specific detail and help the viewer to identify with the characters as a part of point of view shots. However, similar kinds of inserts in Police Adjective (2009), When the Evening Fall on Bucharest or Metabolism (2012) and The Treasure (2014) do not follow the mainstream use of insert shot. Even if it is implied that the characters are also looking at the screen at the same time with the spectator, these shots cannot be classified as point of view shots since we do not see the characters while they are looking at the object that fills the screen before or after the insert shot. These insert shots that fill the frame for a long time as if a part of an explanatory documentary, are full of technical data or useless details that do not help the spectator to follow the story. These insert shots reveal the futility of the sense-making processes by the characters in these films and can be regarded as unique examples for the use of insert shots in narrative cinema. This thesis aims to reveal the role of the insert shots in these three films by analyzing their storyline and narration.en_US
