Master Thesis Indoor positioning system development(Kadir Has Üniversitesi, 2015) Alp, Ebru; Dağ, Tamer; Arsan, TanerNowadays, smartphone market penetration continues to grow with developing technology. Accordingly, position detection in closed areas has become an important research area. For instance; finding a direct route to the gate based on location at an airport, determining a route to the destination that could be a shop or cafe at a shopping center or informing about sales discount to increase sales using location are several applicable areas of position estimation. In the thesis, I developed triangulation algorithm more efficient using least square method with the developments of Wi-Fi channel fixing, optimized A and n values used in log normal formula and more than 3 access points. I used synthetic data which is created from sample data and estimate location for comparison to analyzing success rate of algorithm. According to the measurement results, triangulation algorithm with least square method, channel fixing, optimized A and n values, more than 3 Access Points gives accurate location in closed areas more than simple triangulation algorithm does. According to increase in number of mobile devices, data explosion occurs. It is becoming a must to analyze traffic and sharing resources between subscribers according to their usage habits. It is aimed to provide better a better connected world with service assurance by sharing available bandwidth and estimate it to users according to their needs by protocol level and service based QoS. Due to increase in amount of services like Facebook, Twitter, Mobile TV, in general IP networks, providing service assurance becomes more important day by day. That's why the issue of controlling bandwidth is raised. In the most basic sense, system architecture consists of three main components: A cell phone to generate user based traffic, Gateway GPRS Support Node (GGSN) for Deep Packet Inspection (DPI), and Policy and Charging Rule Function (PCRF) for initiating PCC or Non-PCC rules to GGSN according to services that are needed by user. Shortly, the main idea in this thesis is assigning service based QoS to subscribers to provide better service assurance according to their usage. As thought, the reason of preparing this study is to show the dramatical increase in service based traffic, to explain insufficiency in current bandwidth estimation approaches, and the idea of what can be used in the work of providing better service assurance to an end user. Companies are searching career centers and web-based career software to find an answer for the question of “”Should we find a convenient worker for a certain role and hire this person or not?” Solution is that simple; just have a look at the beginning of the story: university career centers. In this study, a Career Center System Software has been designed and implemented for matching students with their ideal job. Career Center System Software (CCSS) is programmed on C#, MS-SQL and.NET platform. CCSS has been developed on Visual Studio 2010. CCSS is implemented in a way so as to enable the user to apply for the job announcements and to monitor courses and to call for conferences and seminars. Furthermore, CCSS enables companies to view the applicant’s curriculum vitae. All job announcements, educations, seminars and CVs are stored on the database. Software quality and testing shows that CCSS is implemented successfully and ready to use tool as Career Center Software.Master Thesis Improving the Accuracy of Indoor Positioning System(Kadir Has Üniversitesi, 2019) Hameez, Mohammed Muwafaq Noori; Arsan, TanerIndoor positioning applications needs high accuracy and precision to overcome the existing obstacles and relatively small areas. There are several methods which could be used to locate an object or people in an indoor location. Specifically, Ultra-wide band (UWB) sensor technology is a promising technology in indoor environments because of its high accuracy, resistance of interference and better penetrating. This thesis is focused on improving the accuracy of UWB sensor based indoor positioning system. To achieve that, optimization and machine learning algorithms are implemented. The impact of Kalman Filter (KF) on the accuracy is introduced in the implementation of the algorithms. The average localization error is reduced by approximately 54.53% (from 16.34 cm to 7.43 cm), when combining the big bang - big crunch algorithm (BB-BC) with Kalman Filter. Finally, a Hybrid (BB-BC KF K-Means) algorithm is improved and implemented separately, and the best results are obtained from this Hybrid algorithm. Thus, it has been obtained that the average localization error is reduced significantly by approximately 64.26% (from 16.34 cm to 5.84 cm).Article Citation - WoS: 11Citation - Scopus: 10Early Steps in Automated Behavior Mapping via Indoor Sensors(MDPI, 2017) Arsan, Taner; Kepez, OrçunBehavior mapping (BM) is a spatial data collection technique in which the locational and behavioral information of a user is noted on a plan layout of the studied environment. Among many indoor positioning technologies we chose Wi-Fi BLE beacon and ultra-wide band (UWB) sensor technologies for their popularity and investigated their applicability in BM. We tested three technologies for error ranges and found an average error of 1.39 m for Wi-Fi in a 36 m(2) test area (6m x 6 m) 0.86 m for the BLE beacon in a 37.44 m(2) test area (9.6 m x 3.9 m) and 0.24 m for ultra-wide band sensors in a 36 m(2) test area (6 m x 6 m). We simulated the applicability of these error ranges for real-time locations by using a behavioral dataset collected from an active learning classroom. We used two UWB tags simultaneously by incorporating a custom-designed ceiling system in a new 39.76 m(2) test area (7.35 m x 5.41 m). We considered 26 observation points and collected data for 180 s for each point (total 4680) with an average error of 0.2072 m for 23 points inside the test area. Accurate location estimation of targets for indoor environments has the potential for the development of many different applications such as public safety social networking information and mapping services. However the GPS (Global Positioning System) technology used for outdoor environments is not applicable to indoor environments making accurate location estimation a challenging issue for indoor environments. In this paper we propose a received signal strength based least squares lateration algorithm which uses the existing infrastructure. By employing redundancy in the number of access points and applying least squares approximations to the received signal strength values the lateration algorithm increases the accuracy of location estimations. The usage of the existing infrastructure makes the proposed algorithm low cost when compared to other positioning algorithms which need very precise high cost components. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. It is called FLEX-Flight License Exam Software. We designed and implemented flexible and modular software architecture. The implemented system has basic specifications such as appending questions in system building exams with these appended questions and making students to take these exams. There are three different types of users with different authorizations. These are system administrator operators and students. System administrator operates and maintains the system and also audits the system integrity. The system administrator can not be able to change the result of exams and can not take an exam. Operator module includes instructors. Operators have some privileges such as preparing exams entering questions changing the existing questions and etc. Students can log on the system and can be accessed to exams by a certain URL. The other characteristic of our system is that operators and system administrator are not able to delete questions due to the security problems. Exam questions can be inserted on their topics and lectures in the database. However, densely and randomly deployed femtocells while sharing the frequency spectrum of the macrocell arises a severe interference environment. In femtocells deployment, interference coming from a femtocell user affect other femtocell users and the macrocell users, where maintaining the communication of the users in both tiers is a mandatory. In this paper, a novel power control algorithm is proposed for optimizing the uplink transmission powers of femtocell users in a TDD-OFDM communication model in the presence of a channel estimation error and intra-tier interference. We consider signal to interference and noise ratio as the objective function where the proposed constraints deal with: (1) the aggregated interference coming from femtocell tier and received at the active subchannels by the macrocell tier, and (2) the maximum uplink power a femtocell user equipment is allowed to occupy per admissible subchannel. Based on Lagrangian multipliers, the proposed power control approach grants the priority in subchannel usage for macrocell user, then it allows or prohibits frequency reuse of a subchannel with the femtocell tier. A comparison is then made with a pure isolation method that does not allow femtocell user equipments to occupy the active subchannels at the macrocell tier. As contrasted to the traditional VLP system, the proposed SM-based 3D VLP system first estimates the optical channel gain between the transmitting light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and the two photo detectors (PDs) attached to the user by a pilot-based channel estimation technique. Then, unknown 3D positions of the receiver are determined by the trilateration algorithm with distances computed from the estimates of the channel gains. Consequently, the 3D VLP system achieves an interference -free transmission with increased spectral efficiency and without the need for a demultiplexing process at the receiving end. The algorithm's performance is evaluated regarding positioning error by applying the SM over four LEDs and the number of pilots selected as a function of the environmental signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs). The computer simulation results show that the positioning errors are obtained in an order of magnitude smaller than RSS-based techniques in an indoor industrial environment. This is mainly because the distances involved in determining the 3D positions can be determined more precisely by the pilot-aided channel estimation method without creating any data rate problem in transmission due to the higher spectral efficiency of the SM.Master Thesis Trafik Verilerinde Genetik Algoritmalar ve Meta Optimizasyonla Güçlendirilmiş Exponential Smoothing Modeli ile Anomali Tespiti ve Performans Analizi(2024) Güler, Ali Kerem; Arsan, TanerBu çalışma, Numenta Anomaly Benchmark'ın (NAB) gerçek zamanlı trafik veri setleri üzerinde tahminleme yapan Third Order Exponential Smoothing modelinin parametrelerini optimize etmek amacıyla genetik algoritma kullanmaktadır. Ayrıca, genetik algoritma optimizasyon sürecini daha verimli hale getirmek için meta-optimizasyon tekniklerinden yararlanılarak anomali tespitindeki doğruluğu önemli ölçüde artıran yenilikçi bir yaklaşım sunmaktadır. Önerilen metodoloji, trafik yönetim sistemlerinde kritik olan veri akışlarındaki sapmaları tespit etmek için çeşitli trafik veri senaryolarına karşı farklı veri setleri üzerinde test edilmiştir. NAB'nin skorlama sistemini kullanarak yapılan karşılaştırmalı performans analizi, bu araştırmada geliştirilen yöntemin mevcut NAB algoritmalarının çoğundan üstün olduğunu ve NAB'nin önde gelen algoritmalarıyla rekabet edebildiğini göstermektedir. 'standart' için 54.32, 'reward_low_FP' için 53.73 ve 'reward_low_FN' için 69.54 skorları elde eden önerilen yaklaşım, sırasıyla NAB algoritmalarının ortalamasına göre %3.13, %2.70 ve %3.24 oranında bir iyileşme sağlamış, önemli bir gelişme kaydetmiştir. Bulgular, önerilen yaklaşımın sadece yüksek hassasiyetle anormallikleri tespit etmekle kalmayıp, aynı zamanda manuel yeniden kalibrasyon gerektirmeden değişen veri özelliklerine dinamik olarak uyum sağladığını göstermektedir. Bu çalışma, güvenilir izleme sağlayan ve potansiyel olarak etkin trafik yönetimi ve planlamayı kolaylaştıran sağlam bir trafik anomali tespit yöntemi önermektedir. Retention of customers due to the competition has gained importance. Retention of customers is more advantageous than gaining new customers. Gaining new customer has 5 units more than retention of existing customer. Especially telecommunication companies use churn analyzing and prediction. However competition increased in different sectors and they need churn analysis. In recent years logistic companies increased in Turkey, so retention of customer and churn analysis are important for logistic companies. Some logistic companies have churn committees and work on customer loyalty. This article includes churn analysis and prediction with decision tree and artificial neural network. In addition, this article includes comparison of 2 different methods for churn analysis. Article results show neural network better than decision for prediction. Bunun için, sosyologlar tarafında toplanıp etiketlenmiş 2,343 haber makalesinden oluşan bir göç söylemi veri kümesi derlenmiş ve ana haber metinleri, Unicode normalleştirme, Türkçeye özgü lemmatizasyon ve özetleme yöntemleri ile 978 alt-kelime uzunluğunda vektörlere dönüştürülmüş ve bu veride metnin okuyucuya olan etkisi'ni temsil eden tonlama sütunu, pozitif ve negatif olacak şekilde sınıflandırma etiketleri olarak belirlenmiştir. Eğitimde Sadece Kodlayıcı (BERT), Sadece Kod Çözücü (GPT), Sadece Maskelenmiş Kod Çözücü (MaskedOnly) ve Kodlayıcı–Kod Çözücü (T5) olmak üzere çeşitli Transformer mimarileri test edilmiş, çapraz-dikkat mekanizmasına odaklanılması sebebiyle GPT ve T5 mimarileri ile devam edilmiştir. Bu çalışma, düşük kaynaklı ve yüksek riskli metinsel uygulamalar için güvenilir Türkçe açıklanabilir Transformer modellerine dair ilk bütüncül altyapıyı sunmaktadır.Article Citation - WoS: 1Improvement of Indoor Positioning Accuracy of Ultra-Wide Band Sensors by Using Big Bang-Big Crunch Optimization Method(Pamukkale Univ, 2018) Arsan, TanerUltra-wide Band technology is an emerging technology that offers successful solutions in many indoor positioning systems and performs better than other methods. In this study an indoor positioning system using Ultra-wide Band (UWB) sensors was developed and it was aimed to increase the accuracy level of the standard equipment with the additional algorithms used while reducing the average error. For this purpose the Big Bang-Big Crunch (BB-BC) optimization method has been applied to the experimental indoor positioning system and the positive effect on the measurement accuracy has been proved by the tests made. An area of 39.76 m(2) was selected as a test area of 7.35 m x 5.41 m and three different Ultra-wide Band receivers were installed at a height of 2.85 m on a specially designed ceiling system and a total of 10.920 measurements were taken from 182 test points for 60 seconds. By correcting the measurement results with the Big Bang Big Crunch optimization algorithm the average error was reduced from the previous 20.72 cm to 15.02 cm thus the accuracy of the measurement results were improved.
