    A Comparative Study of Turkhish and American Activist Theatre in the 20th Century

    The essential goal of this project is two-fold: to gain a greater understanding of the role of activist theater in Turkey and in the U.S and discuss the need for activist theater. The research component of this project includes the historical context of activist theater and delves into its purpose in today?s world. The decades of the 1960s and 1970s saw the development of the Theater of the Oppressed and other activist theater movements that sought to creatively expose inequality. My project takes into account the historical setting of modern activist theater and then discusses the urgent need for these types of productions to continue to be staged today. -- Abstract'tan.
