We define this special warped product as a (3 + 3 + 2) warped-like manifold of the form M = F x B. where the base B is a two-dimensional Riemannian manifold and the fibre F is of the form F = F-1 x F-2 where the F-i(i = 1 2) are Riemannian 3-manifolds. We prove that the connection on M is completely determined by the requirement that the Bonan 4-form given in the work of Yasui and Ootsuka [Y. Yasui and T. Ootsuka Spin(7) holonomy manifold and superconnection Class. Quantum Gravity 18(2001)807-816] be closed. Assuming that the F-i are complete connected and simply connected it follows that they are isometric to S-3 with constant curvature k > 0 and the Yasui-Ootsuka solution is unique in the class of (3 + 3 + 2) warped-like product metrics admitting a specific Spin(7) structure. This requires the development of effective computational methods that help them estimate their competitors' behaviors under incomplete information. In this article an agent-based method that uses particle swarm optimization is described to simulate the behavior of market participants. Particle swarm optimization is used in the bidding process and an agent-based model is applied to find a Nash equilibrium. Different stopping conditions are used to determine the equilibrium. We analyze the day ahead and real time market data for the Turkish power market for the period 2012-2015 to classify price spikes and their causes. We also focus on the levels of deviation between the day ahead market values and the real time market values. We define price deviation and load deviation ratios to measure the level of deviation both in price and demand. The analysis for the load is based on load shedding and cycling values. We analyze the mean and standard deviation in market prices and we determine the price spike as a two sigma deviation from the mean value. It is shown that 60% of the price deviation ratios are in the range of ( +/- 20%), while 44% are in the range of ( +/- 10%) and 35% are in the range of (+/- 5%). We also show that 56.9% of the spikes are due to problems in the generation of natural gas based power plants which affect the day ahead and real time prices. A total of 29.2% of the spikes are due to power plant and system failures that affect only real time prices. V.The Susceptible-Infected-Recovered (SIR) and Susceptible-Exposed-Infected-Recovered (SEIR) models describe the spread of epidemics in a society. In the typical case, the ratio of the susceptible individuals fall from a value S-0 close to 1 to a final value S-f, while the ratio of recovered individuals rise from 0 to R-f = 1 - S-f. The sharp passage from the level zero to the level R-f allows also the modeling of phase transitions by the number of "recovered" individuals R(t) of the SIR or SEIR model. Therefore, today's companies have used different multiple-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods for the evaluation study of CAM software alternatives to make this complex process easily applicable and not time-consuming. Among the MCDM methods in literature, the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) method has been widely used for various MCDM problems in both academic researches and industrial practices. However, in some cases, because of the vagueness and uncertainty on the judgments of decision maker(s), the crisp pair wise comparison in the conventional AHP seems to be insufficient and imprecise to capture the right judgments of decision maker(s). Therefore, a fuzzy logic method is integrated in the pair wise comparison of AHP to make up for this deficiency in the conventional AHP, called as fuzzy AHP. Hence assortment planning is an important task for sustained financial success of a retailer in a competitive business environment. In this study we consider the assortment planning problem of a retailer in Turkey. Using empirical point-of-sale data a demand model is developed and utilized in the optimization model. Due to nonlinear nature of the model and integrality constraint we find that it is difficult to obtain a solution even for moderately large product sets. We propose a greedy heuristic approach that generates better results than the mixed integer nonlinear programming in a reasonably shorter period of time for medium and large problem sizes. We also proved that our method has a worst-case time complexity of O(n 2 )while other two well-known heuristics’ complexities are O(n 3 )and O(n 4 ). Also numerical experiments reveal that our method has a better performance than the worst-case as it generates better results in a much shorter run-times compared to other methods. © 2019 Elsevier LtdArticle Citation Count: 0Babbling through social media: A cross-country study mapping out social networks using eWOM intentions(Springer, 2023) Zülal, İşler; Kıygı-Çallı, Meltem; El Oraiby, MaryamThis research aims to determine the factors affecting the users’ electronic word-of-mouth (eWOM) seeking and sharing intentions and to reveal the interactions among and within clusters using social network analysis (SNA). This study includes three hierarchical sub-studies conducted in two countries, Turkey and Poland. First, we develop a segmentation for social networking site (SNS) users based on the frequency of sharing product-related information on SNSs. Second, we investigate the impact of several factors that affect eWOM seeking and sharing intentions using regression analysis. In the second sub-study, we also include the identified segments developed in the first sub-study as another factor that may have differentiated eWOM intentions. Third, to understand the degree of interaction among SNS users, we apply an SNA using the forecasted eWOM intentions scores from the second sub-study, which gives us hypothetical social networks. The results of SNA present strong interactions inter- and intra-clusters in both countries. Some key findings include the identification of three SNS user segments, including “Middlers,” that may be of particular interest to brands. We also find that in terms of eWOM intentions, users in Turkey are more active than in Poland. Although some predictors of eWOM seeking and sharing intentions differ between the two countries, users intend to be more active in eWOM seeking than in eWOM sharing. The auction mechanism and competition determine the equilibrium price and quantity for each hour. If the bid price of a company is below the market clearing price then the offer of the company is accepted and rewarded with the market price. A company can be a price maker or price taker depending on the capacity it offers to the market. A price-taker unit must determine the right offer that will maximize their profit given price uncertainty and blind auction rules. This paper first examines power supply in the Turkish electricity market and bidding process. Then a marginal cost-based Monte Carlo method is developed to determine hourly and block bidding strategies of price taker units. Historical market prices are then implemented in a normal distribution to generate hourly price scenarios. A solution methodology is developed that maximizes the expected profit of each hourly and block bidding strategy over price scenarios. The generator is able to both evaluate the hourly bidding and block bidding strategies and find the best bidding strategy that will be submitted to the market using the proposed methodology. In this paper we consider a family A = {A(a)} A(a) : V -> V a = 1... N of anti-commuting (complex) linear operators on a finite dimensional vector space. We prove that if the family is diagonalizable over the complex numbers then V has an A-invariant direct sum decomposition into subspaces V(alpha) such that the restriction of the family A to V(alpha) is a representation of a Clifford algebra. Thus unlike the families of commuting diagonalizable operators diagonalizable anti-commuting families cannot be simultaneously digonalized but on each subspace they can be put simultaneously to (non-unique) canonical forms. The construction of canonical forms for complex representations is straightforward while for the real representations it follows from the results of [A.H. Bilge S. Kocak S. All rights reserved.Article Citation Count: 0Chelate extraction of transition metal ions by ethylene diamine diacetic acid with n-substituted octadecyl groups(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2002) Bıçak, Niyazi; Şungur, Şana Kutun; Tan, Nükhet; Gazi, MustafaAn organic-soluble chelating agent NN'-di-n-octadecyl ethylenediamine-NN'-diacetic acid (DOED) has been synthesized in two steps by (i) condensation of dibromoethane with 1-amino octadecane (octadecylamine) and (ii) subsequent reaction with sodium chloro acetate in alcohol-water mixture. The chelating agent in 2-ethylhexanol-cyclohexanol (1:1) solutions shows extremely high chelating ability for Ni(II) Co(II) Cu(II) Fe(111) Cr(III) and Cd(II) ions in neutral aqueous solutions. Extractions take place by the formation of (1:1) ligand-to-metal complexes and extraction coefficients are in the range 0.74-0.99. The ligand can be regenerated almost quantitatively by washing its complexes with 1M HCl and 0.2 M NaOH solutions successively. In each extraction step the organic solution exhibits a clear-cut phase separation and does not need salting out. The chelating agent can be regenerated and recycled more than 24 times without losing its extracting ability due to nonhydrolyzability of linkages in its structure. Experiments indicate that in high metal concentrations (more than 1 M) the solvent mixture itself is able to extract appreciable amounts of metal ions (33-53%). The solubility in organic solvents induced by long aliphatic chains seems to be general and the method presented offers possibility of large scale chelate extraction of metal ions of relatively low concentrations.Article Citation Count: 12A combined fuzzy AHP-goal programming approach to assembly-line selection(IOS Press, 2007) Ayağ, Zeki; Özdemir, Rıfat GürcanIn mass production assembly-line balancing (ALB) problem has been a critical and repetitive issue for companies for long time. On the other hand equipment selection for stations has also been another important problem at the design stage of an assembly-line system. In this paper both problems are handled simultaneously. Therefore first goal programming (GP) method a well-suited technique is used to develop a preemptive formulation to joint both of the problems when the nature of the problem consists of several conflicting objectives and some mathematical constraints on solutions. Second an AHP method based on fuzzy scales which is incorporated with the GP is also used due to the fact that it takes both qualitative and quantitative judgments of decision-maker(s) into consideration to rank the equipment alternatives for stations by weight. The fuzzy AHP as one of the most commonly used multiple-criteria decision making (MCDM) methods has been effectively used for more than decade in both academic research and practice and takes the vagueness and uncertainty on judgments of decision-maker(s) into consideration due to the fact that the crisp pairwise comparison in the conventional AHP seems to insufficient and imprecise to capture the right judgments of decision-maker(s). In short in this study a combined fuzzy AHP-GP approach is proposed to evaluating assembly-line design alternatives with equipment selection. An integer GP formulation is constructed which also uses the fuzzy AHP scores of equipment alternatives and employs them as one of the goals. Then the mathematical model is solved to find out the ultimate alternative in terms of the minimized equipment cost and the maximized preference measures of decision-maker(s). Turkish government has been developing several energy policy documents to evaluate how various renewable energy sources of the country can be utilized optimally in the generation of electricity within the next 30 years. This study considers three scenarios in the transition to renewable energy for Turkey; the business as usual (BAU), energy conservation (EC) and renewable energy (REN) scenarios. EC scenario considers the use of energy-efficient appliances and imposing a carbon tax, whereas REN scenario considers increasing the share of the renewable energy sources as much as possible in the power generation mix. These scenarios were evaluated in terms of cost and environmental impact. The LEAP (Long-range Energy Alternatives Planning Model) was used in the research. When more than one quality characteristic is considered an important question is how to trade off robust design solutions. In this paper we consider a bi-objective robust design problem for which Pareto solutions of two quality characteristics need to be obtained. In practical robust design applications a second-order polynomial model is adequate to accommodate the curvature of process mean and variance functions thus mean-squared robust design models frequently used by many researchers would contain fourth-order terms. Consequently the associated Pareto frontier might be non-convex and supported and non-supported efficient solutions needs to be generated. So the objective of this paper is to develop a lexicographic weighted-Tchebycheff based bi-objective robust design model to generate the associated Pareto frontier. All rights reserved.Article Citation Count: 5Conformal and generalized concircular mappings of Einstein-Weyl manifolds(2010) Özdeğer, AbdülkadirIn this article after giving a necessary and sufficient condition for two Einstein-Weyl manifolds to be in conformal correspondence we prove that any conformal mapping between such manifolds is generalized concircular if and only if the covector field of the conformal mapping is locally a gradient. Using this fact we deduce that any conformal mapping between two isotropic Weyl manifolds is a generalized concircular mapping. Moreover it is shown that a generalized concircularly flat Weyl manifold is generalized concircular to an Einstein manifold and that its scalar curvature is prolonged covariant constant. © 2010 Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics.
