C# based media center
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(2013)In this paper, we design and implement a novel all-in-one Media Center that can be directly connected to a high-definition television (HDTV). C# programming is used for developing modular structured media center for home entertainment. Therefore it is possible and easy to add new limitless number of modules and software components. The most importantly, user interface is designed by considering two important factors; simplicity and tidiness. Proposed media center provides opportunities to users ...

C-reactive protein as a pre-procedural predictor of early and late outcomes of percutaneous coronary interventions
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Springer New York, 2003)To examine the predictive value of pre-procedural CRP level in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) regardless of having unstable or stable angina pectoris or myocardial infarction. Blood sampling for CRP measurement in patients undergoing PCI: 116 consecutive patients who underwent single vessel PCI were evaluated. Exclusion criteria were multilesion PCI, total occlusion, left ventricular ejection fraction < 30%, left bundle branch block and intercurrent inflammatory ...

Caching algorithm implementation for edge computing in IoT network
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Kadir Has University, 2020)The developing IoT concept brings new challenges to the service providers. The architecture of the networks changes to satisfy the needs arising by the large number of connected devices. Edge computing is the new architectural solution that will be used in the IoT networks. This architecture is more dynamic than the cloud computing network where the data can be quickly processed in the different layers of the network without going to the cloud. This will remove the problems faced by cloud computing: ...

Cad software evaluation for product design to exchange data in a supply chain network
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(ExcelingTech Publishers, 2015)The sharing information in a supply chain environment especially CAD models and drawings are so important companies. So the selection of the most satisfying computer-aided design (CAD) software which enables to exchange data through supply chain network has been major issues for companies in a supply chain. The selection process of CAD software among the raising number of alternatives in the market has been very vital and critical issue for companies that aim to make their design and engineering ...

Calculating Level Densities of Heavy Nuclei by the Shell Model Monte Carlo Method
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Academic Press Inc Elsevier Science, 2014)The microscopic calculation of nuclear level densities in the presence of correlations is a difficult many-body problem. The shell model Monte Carlo method provides a powerful technique to carry out such calculations using the framework of the configuration-interaction shell model in spaces that are many orders of magnitude larger than spaces that can be treated by conventional methods. We present recent applications of the method to the calculation of level densities and their collective enhancement ...

CAMPways: constrained alignment framework for the comparative analysis of a pair of metabolic pathways
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Oxford University Press, 2013)Motivation: Given a pair of metabolic pathways an alignment of the pathways corresponds to a mapping between similar substructures of the pair. Successful alignments may provide useful applications in phylogenetic tree reconstruction drug design and overall may enhance our understanding of cellular metabolism. Results: We consider the problem of providing one-to-many alignments of reactions in a pair of metabolic pathways. We first provide a constrained alignment framework applicable to the problem. ...

Can law impose competition? A critical discussion and evidence from the Turkish electricity generation market
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Pergamon-Elsevier Science Ltd, 2014)Electricity markets have undergone regulatory reforms since the early 1980s around the world. Technical analyses of these reforms usually pay lip service to the influence of politics over regulatory processes. Existing studies examine certain aspects of the market such as demand pricing and efficiency and they touch upon political issues only passingly when economic models cannot provide sufficient explanation This approach problematically takes politics as an ad hoc variable. This study shows ...

Canonical forms for families of anti-commuting diagonalizable linear operators
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Elsevier Science Inc, 2012)It is well known that a commuting family of diagonalizable linear operators on a finite dimensional vector space is simultaneously diagonalizable. In this paper we consider a family A = {A(a)} A(a) : V -> V a = 1... N of anti-commuting (complex) linear operators on a finite dimensional vector space. We prove that if the family is diagonalizable over the complex numbers then V has an A-invariant direct sum decomposition into subspaces V(alpha) such that the restriction of the family A to V(alpha) ...

Capital Flows and Credit Expansions in Turkey
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Sage Publications Inc, 2014)Literature on capital flows identifies various channels through which capital inflows could create financial fragility and economic instability in developing and emerging economies. Domestic credit expansion is one such channel. Capital inflows can lead to rapid expansion of domestic credit even create credit bubbles and thus result in an increased fragility of the economy. I analyze the link between private capital inflows and bank credit to the private sector in the case of Turkey between 2003 ...

Capitalism Crisis and Class: The United States Economy after the 2008 Financial Crisis
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Sage Publications Inc, 2014)The literature on the outcomes of the financial crisis in low- and middle-income countries in the post-1980 era presents three broad findings: first the burden of crises falls disproportionately on labor in general and low-income segments of the society in particular. Wages and the labor share of income fall unemployment increases the power of labor declines and income inequality and poverty increase. Capital on the other hand recovers quickly and gains more ground. Second government policies favor ...

Carboxylic acid derivatives display potential selectivity for human histone deacetylase 6: Structure-based virtual screening molecular docking and dynamics simulation studies
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Elsevier Science, 2018)Human histone deacetylase 6 (HDAC6) has been shown to play a major role in oncogenic cell transformation via deacetylation of alpha-tubulin making it a viable target of anticancer drug design and development. The crystal structure of HDAC6 catalytic domain 2 has been recently made available providing avenues for structure-based drug design campaign. Here in our continuous effort to identify potentially selective HDAC6 inhibitors structure-based virtual screening of similar to 72 461 compounds was ...

Cartoon Violence and Freedom of Expression
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Johns Hopkins Univ Press, 2008)The publication of the "Danish cartoons" generated a continuing conflict between freedom of expression and religious tolerance. The article examines the history of cartoon satire, invoking past examples of racial and religious discrimination in cartoons while emphasizing the important role cartoonists have played in criticizing and checking the exercise of power. The legal implications of the "Danish cartoons" is analyzed through the lens of international human rights law, in particular the concepts ...

Cascaded Lossless Commensurate Line Synthesis
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(IEEE, 2009)In this paper a synthesis algorithm for cascaded lossless commensurate lines is summarized. The algorithm is based on transfer matrix factorization. Firstly the characteristic impedance of the extracted element is calculated and then after extracting the element the reflection factor of the remaining network is calculated. This process is repeated until the termination resistance is reached. An example is included to illustrate the implementation of the algorithm.

Case Study 8: IGaranti: Expanding the Frontiers of Mobile Banking Innovation
Authors:
Publisher and Date:(Springer International Publishing, 2016)iGaranti have claimed many awards and recognitions in addition to the wide press coverage. Two years into its launch iGaranti counted for an active user base of 110 k. However the spread of its reach was only about 2?% of the active mobile banking users in the market. Mr. Yilmaz worried about the bottlenecks that had limited further user acceptance and engagement. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2017.
