The sixth generation (6G) of mobile network will be composed by different nodes, from macro-devices (satellite) to nano-devices (sensors inside the human body), providing a full connectivity fabric all around us. These heterogeneous nodes constitute an ultra dense network managing tons of information, often very sensitive. To trust the services provided by such network, security is a mandatory feature by design. In this scenario, physical-layer security (PLS) can act as a first line of defense, providing security even to low-resourced nodes in different environments. This paper discusses challenges, solutions and visions of PLS in beyond-5G networks.

Yesilkaya, A.; Miramirkhani, F.; Basar, E.; Panayırcı, Erdal; Uysal, M. (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2016)Visible light communication (VLC) involves the dual use of illumination infrastructure for high speed wireless access. Designing such optical based communication systems, realistic indoor optical channel modeling becomes ... -
Information Theoretical Performance Analysis and Optimisation of Cooperative Underwater Acoustic Communication Systems
Nouri, Hatef; Uysal, Murat; Panayırcı, Erdal (Inst Engineering Technology-IET, 2016)In this study the authors investigate the information theoretical limits on the performance of single-carrier cooperative underwater acoustic communication systems in the presence of intersymbol interference. The authors ... -
Channel Estimation for DCO-OFDM Based VLC Systems in the Presence of Clipping Noise
Bektas, E.B.; Panayırcı, Erdal (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., 2020)Visible Light Communication(VLC) has been considered as a potential access option for 6G wireless systems to solve performance limitation due to bandwidth shortage at radio frequency (RF) band. In VLC system, illumination ...
