Article Citation Count: 1A cloud service composition method using a fuzzy-based particle swarm optimization algorithm(Springer, 2023) Jafari Navimipour, Nima; Nassr, Mohammad; Al-Khafaji, Hamza Mohammed Ridha; Navimipour, Nima Jafari; Unal, MehmetIn today's dynamic business landscape, organizations heavily rely on cloud computing to leverage the power of virtualization and resource sharing. Service composition plays a vital role in cloud computing, combining multiple cloud services to fulfill complex user requests. Service composition in cloud computing presents several challenges. These include service heterogeneity, dynamic service availability, QoS (Quality of Service) constraints, and scalability issues. Traditional approaches often struggle to handle these challenges efficiently, leading to suboptimal resource utilization and poor service performance. This work presents a fuzzy-based strategy for composing cloud services to overcome these obstacles. The fact that service composition is NP-hard has prompted the use of a range of metaheuristic algorithms in numerous papers. Therefore, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) has been applied in this paper to solve the problem. Implementing a fuzzy-based PSO for service composition requires defining the fuzzy membership functions and rules based on the specific service domain. Once the fuzzy logic components are established, they can be integrated into the PSO algorithm. The simulation results have shown the high efficiency of the proposed method in decreasing the latency, cost, and response time.Article Citation Count: 1A GSO-based multi-objective technique for performance optimization of blockchain-based industrial Internet of things(Wiley, 2024) Jafari Navimipour, Nima; Darbandi, Mehdi; Nassr, Mohammad; Heidari, Arash; Navimipour, Nima Jafari; Yalcin, SenayThe latest developments in the industrial Internet of things (IIoT) have opened up a collection of possibilities for many industries. To solve the massive IIoT data security and efficiency problems, a potential approach is considered to satisfy the main needs of IIoT, such as high throughput, high security, and high efficiency, which is named blockchain. The blockchain mechanism is considered a significant approach to boosting data protection and performance. In the quest to amplify the capabilities of blockchain-based IIoT, a pivotal role is accorded to the Glowworm Swarm Optimization (GSO) algorithm. Inspired by the collaborative brilliance of glowworms in nature, the GSO algorithm offers a unique approach to harmonizing these conflicting aims. This paper proposes a new approach to improve the performance optimization of blockchain-based IIoT using the GSO algorithm due to the blockchain's contradictory objectives. The proposed blockchain-based IIoT system using the GSO algorithm addresses scalability challenges typically associated with blockchain technology by efficiently managing interactions among nodes and dynamically adapting to network demands. The GSO algorithm optimizes the allocation of resources and decision-making, reducing inefficiencies and bottlenecks. The method demonstrates considerable performance improvements through extensive simulations compared to traditional algorithms, offering a more scalable and efficient solution for industrial applications in the context of the IIoT. The extensive simulation and computational study have shown that the proposed method using GSO considerably improves the objective function and blockchain-based IIoT systems' performance compared to traditional algorithms. It provides more efficient and secure systems for industries and corporations. We introduced a blockchain-based IIoT using a glowworm swarm optimization algorithm motivated by glowworms' behavior, movements' probability toward each other, and luciferin quantity. The proposed approach significantly improves four-way trade-offs such as scalability, decentralization, cost, and latency. imageArticle Citation Count: 0A new cloud-based method for composition of healthcare services using deep reinforcement learning and Kalman filtering(Pergamon-elsevier Science Ltd, 2024) Jafari Navimipour, Nima; Darbandi, Mehdi; Nassr, Mohammad; Latifian, Ahmad; Hosseinzadeh, Mehdi; Navimipour, Nima JafariHealthcare has significantly contributed to the well-being of individuals around the globe; nevertheless, further benefits could be derived from a more streamlined healthcare system without incurring additional costs. Recently, the main attributes of cloud computing, such as on-demand service, high scalability, and virtualization, have brought many benefits across many areas, especially in medical services. It is considered an important element in healthcare services, enhancing the performance and efficacy of the services. The current state of the healthcare industry requires the supply of healthcare products and services, increasing its viability for everyone involved. Developing new approaches for discovering and selecting healthcare services in the cloud has become more critical due to the rising popularity of these kinds of services. As a result of the diverse array of healthcare services, service composition enables the execution of intricate operations by integrating multiple services' functionalities into a single procedure. However, many methods in this field encounter several issues, such as high energy consumption, cost, and response time. This article introduces a novel layered method for selecting and evaluating healthcare services to find optimal service selection and composition solutions based on Deep Reinforcement Learning (Deep RL), Kalman filtering, and repeated training, addressing the aforementioned issues. The results revealed that the proposed method has achieved acceptable results in terms of availability, reliability, energy consumption, and response time when compared to other methods.
