Article Great Mosque of Gumus: an Architectural Study on the Date and Patron Problem(Istanbul Univ, 2019) Keskin, Mustafa ÇağhanThe mosque in Gumus, a small town in the Amasya region, attracts attention because of the problem of identifying its patron. The Turkish inscription written in the Latin Alphabet "Yorguc Rustem Pasa Camisi 1426" on the plate on the portal, consubstantiating Yorguc Pasa and Rustem Pasa, identifies a historical figure who never existed as the patron of the building. This consubstantiation refers to two important actors in the construction process of the mosque: Yorguc Pasa (d. 1442), the vizier of Murad II and Rustem Pasa (d. 1561), the vizier of Suleyman I. This study does not aim to reveal whether Yorguc Pasa or Rustem Pasa was the true patron who commissioned the building, rather it aims to examine the building in detail to date its parts.Article Gümüş Ulu Camii: Bani ve Dönem Sorunları Üzerine Bir Mimari Deneme(İstanbul Üniversitesi Türkiyat Araştırmaları Enstitüsü, 2019) Keskin, Mustafa ÇağhanAmasya’nın Gümüş kasabasında yer alan cami, banisinin kim olduğuna ilişkin sorunlar ile dikkat çeker. Taç kapı üzerinde bulunan “Yörgüç Rüstem Paşa Camii 1426” ibaresi, Yörgüç Paşa ile Rüstem Paşa’yı özdeşleştirerek tarihte hiç var olmamış bir figürü bani olarak ilan eder. Bu özdeşim, caminin oluşumundaki en önemli iki aktöre referans vermektedir; II. Murad’ın vezirlerinden Yörgüç Paşa (ö.1442) ve Kanuni Sultan Süleyman’ın vezirlerinden Rüstem Paşa (ö.1561). Bani kimliğine ilişkin karmaşa, yalnız yöredeki geleneksel özdeşim üzerinden değil, yapıya dair günümüze ulaşan yazılı kaynaklarda da izlenebilir. Bu araştırma, caminin gerçek banisinin kim olduğunu veya Yörgüç Paşa ya da Rüstem Paşa’dan hangisinin bu yapıya ismini vermeyi hak ettiğini ortaya koymayı amaçlamayan, ancak, yapısal veriler üzerinden bir mimarlık tarihi okuması yaparak, hangi kısımların hangi döneme ait olabileceğini tartışmayı öngören bir denemedir.Article Mountain Bike Venue Test Event Noise Assessment London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games(Studıo D-Akustika Sro, 2016) Şaher, KoncaThis article reports the results of the noise monitoring during the London 2012 Mountain Biking Test Event which was held at Hadleigh Farm. The noise monitoring was held during the Mountain Bike Test Event for two purposes: Firstly as part of the requirements of Environmental Management Plan for the Test Event to ensure that no noise disturbance was being caused and the noise levels were below the agreed criterion of 65 dB(A) at the noise sensitive receptors during the Test Event and secondly to check whether any additional mitigation measures need to be adopted for the main Olympic Event. The noise monitoring results indicate that the L-Aeq noise levels at the selected two noise sensitive receptors were below the 65 dB(A) criterion. The results confirmed the predictions that the crowd noise was not a noise nuisance during the Test Event and the results further showed that no noise nuisance at the noise sensitive receptors was caused by public adress system. The public address system to be used during the main event was very similar to the Test Event therefore it was possible to conclude that the noise nuisance from the event (public address system and spectator noise) could be assessed as being moderate to low risk during the main Games.Article Waqf Inscription of Umur Beg: a Study on Inspiration and Context(Istanbul 29 Mayis Univ & Isam, 2019) Keskin, Mustafa ÇağhanThe waqf inscription located at the mosque that was built by Umur Bey is one of the earliest serious attempts in Ottoman cultural world representing daily Turkish spoken by common people have been transferred from paper to public space. Umur Bey was influenced and inspired by the commisioner of the Turkish waqf inscription in Kutahya Germiyanoglu II. Yakup an intellectual member of governor elite whom he knew for several years. Umur Bey's preference of Turkish language whom was a part of the Turkish elite that lost its prestige among Ottoman bureau-cracy does not only show the significance he gives to his mother tongue but also points out the fact that he was worried that the majority of the public was unable to understand Arabic and that the text could be easily understood. Announcement of the waqfiya [the deed of the endowment] in the public space coincides with the land reform of Sultan Mehmed II anticipating nationalization of the landed properties that are foundations' main sources of income. This gives an impression that Umur Bey gives a reaction to this land reform by proclaiming his devoted territory.
