Article Citation - WoS: 11Citation - Scopus: 10Early Steps in Automated Behavior Mapping via Indoor Sensors(MDPI, 2017) Arsan, Taner; Kepez, OrçunBehavior mapping (BM) is a spatial data collection technique in which the locational and behavioral information of a user is noted on a plan layout of the studied environment. Among many indoor positioning technologies we chose Wi-Fi BLE beacon and ultra-wide band (UWB) sensor technologies for their popularity and investigated their applicability in BM. We tested three technologies for error ranges and found an average error of 1.39 m for Wi-Fi in a 36 m(2) test area (6m x 6 m) 0.86 m for the BLE beacon in a 37.44 m(2) test area (9.6 m x 3.9 m) and 0.24 m for ultra-wide band sensors in a 36 m(2) test area (6 m x 6 m). We simulated the applicability of these error ranges for real-time locations by using a behavioral dataset collected from an active learning classroom. We used two UWB tags simultaneously by incorporating a custom-designed ceiling system in a new 39.76 m(2) test area (7.35 m x 5.41 m). We considered 26 observation points and collected data for 180 s for each point (total 4680) with an average error of 0.2072 m for 23 points inside the test area. Finally we demonstrated the use of ultra-wide band sensor technology for BM.Article Edirne’de Bir İngiliz Misyonerlik Cemiyeti: Evangelikalizm, Milenyalizm ve Yahudiler(Türk Tarih Kurumu, 2019) Sağ, Mustafa KaanBritish Society for the Propagation of the Gospel among the Jews (BSPGJ) Yahudileri Hıristiyanlığa döndürmek amacıyla 1842’de Londra’da kurulmuş bir İngiliz misyonerlik cemiyetidir. Article An English Missionary Society in Adrianople: Evangelicalism, Millenialism and the Jews(Türk Tarih Kurumu, 2019) Sağ, Mustafa KaanBritish Society for the Propagation of the Gospel among the Jews (BSPGJ) was founded in1842 in London in order to convert Jews to Christianity. In the second half of the 19th century the society established several mission centres in Europe and North Africa, including Edirne in 1865. By offering medical and educational service the society converted a great number of Jews to Christianity. In the beginning of the 20t h century the mission became active in the form of an educational institution called "Adrianople English School". Although the traces of the Edirne mission disappeared in the First World War, the architecture of the school building supports the description of the society's cultural relation with the Ottoman society as far as it appears on the photos of the period. In this work first it will be focused on the religious movement called Evangelicalism, which directed BSPGJ and similar British societies to the Jews. Second the history of the society and the conversion of Jews in Edirne will be examined. Finally it is aimed to put forward an outcome which would aid to light the Middle East Question more clearly within the frame of the influence of Britian based Jewish missions on the international politics and the establishment of Israel.Article Waqf Inscription of Umur Beg: a Study on Inspiration and Context(Istanbul 29 Mayis Univ & Isam, 2019) Keskin, Mustafa ÇağhanThe waqf inscription located at the mosque that was built by Umur Bey is one of the earliest serious attempts in Ottoman cultural world representing daily Turkish spoken by common people have been transferred from paper to public space. Umur Bey was influenced and inspired by the commisioner of the Turkish waqf inscription in Kutahya Germiyanoglu II. Yakup an intellectual member of governor elite whom he knew for several years. Umur Bey's preference of Turkish language whom was a part of the Turkish elite that lost its prestige among Ottoman bureau-cracy does not only show the significance he gives to his mother tongue but also points out the fact that he was worried that the majority of the public was unable to understand Arabic and that the text could be easily understood. Announcement of the waqfiya [the deed of the endowment] in the public space coincides with the land reform of Sultan Mehmed II anticipating nationalization of the landed properties that are foundations' main sources of income. This gives an impression that Umur Bey gives a reaction to this land reform by proclaiming his devoted territory.
