Abstract
This thesis examines the relationships between space, power, and resistance in the films Das Lehrerzimmer (Çatak, 2023) and Black Box (Özge, 2023) at the intersection of cinema, architecture, and social theory. The analysis is grounded in Michel Foucault's theories of biopolitics and discipline and is further expanded through Giorgio Agamben's concepts of the state of exception and homo sacer, as well as Michel de Certeau's theories on everyday life tactics. By demonstrating that space is not merely a backdrop but an active force shaping social relations, the study aims to contribute to discussions on how cinema critiques spatial and political structures. This thesis situates itself within the interdisciplinary intersection of film, architecture, and urban studies, leveraging critical theories to investigate the biopolitical and disciplinary mechanisms embedded in cinematic spaces.
