Gezi Parkı Eylemleri ile Birlikte Maçka Demokrasi Parkı’nın Kullanım ve Anlam Açısından Dönüşümü

Abstract

Bu calisma Gezi Parki Eylemleri?nin gerceklestigi Haziran 2013 tarihi sonrasinda Macka Demokrasi Parki?nin kullanim yogunlugu ve kullanim bicimlerindeki donusumu ve parkin kentli icin anlaminin degisimini tartismayi hedeflemektedir. Bu amacla calismada oncelikle Macka Demokrasi Parki icin Prost Plani?ndan gunumuze kadar yapilan plan calismalari ve parkin yakin doneme kadar kullanimi uzerine bir cerceve sunulmakta daha sonra ise Gezi Parki Eylemleri ile birlikte ve eylemler sonrasinda parkta gerceklestirilen forumlar ve farkli nitelikteki kamusal etkinliklere odaklanilarak bunlarin parkin kullanimina ve bir kentsel mekân olarak anlaminin donusumune katkilari tartisilmaktadir. calismanin dayandigi alan arastirmasi parkin sosyal medyada yer alis bicimlerinin ve park kullanimini destekleyici etiketler ve organizasyonlarin cozumlenmesinin yani sira parkin bugunku kullanicilariyla yapilan anketler ve yari-yapilandirilmis derinlikli soylesilerden elde edilen veriler uzerinden kurulmutur. calisma Haziran 2013 tarihinden sonra Macka Demokrasi Parki?nin daha yogun bir bicimde kullaniliyor olduguna ve bu yogun kullanimla birlikte parkin kentli icin anlaminin olumlu yonde degistigine ve bir kamusal alan olarak benimsenip tercih edildigine isaret etmektedir.

The thesis aims to understand the transformation of 'Maçka Demokrasi Parkı' after the Gezi Events of June 2013, focusing on the density of use, forms of use, and the meanings attributed to the park by the public. The thesis begins with a historical account that discusses how the park was planned, used and transformed up until the Gezi Events, and continues with a discussion of the ways in which public forums and other activities that have taken place in the park since the Gezi Events have contributed to the transformation of the park in terms of the ways it is used and perceived. In terms of methodology, the thesis builds on the analysis of the ways the park has taken place in the social media, along with questionnaires and in-depth, semi-structured interviews conducted with the users of the park. After the discussion of the results, it concludes that the park has become a place that is much more densely used and much more positively perceived by the public particularly with respect to its negative image in the past, and that it has become a vibrant public space owing to the new park culture generated during the Gezi Events.
